This volume is a collection of papers in German Studies. The wide range of subject areas dealt with reflects the diversity of research at UK universities at the turn of the century: political and social studies, media and cultural topics, literary issues, and recent developments in pedagogic and linguistic studies. The volume confirms the dynamism and diversity of current research in UK German Studies.

The Editors

Christopher Hall lectures in German at the University of Leicester and is Visiting Professor of Germanic Philology at the University of Tampere in Finland.

David Rock lectures in German at the University of Keele. He has published widely on modern German literature and currently specialises in GDR and Romanian-German writers.
