The Conference has established an annual prize of £200 for the best essay in any field of German Studies by a postgraduate student registered for a higher degree in any field of German Studies at a university in Great Britain or Ireland.
No prize was awarded in 2003; in 2002 the prize was awarded to Carolin Duttlinger of St John's College, Cambridge, for her essay 'Madness and Method: Freud, Paranoia and the Performativity of the Cure', which will appear in volume five of the CUTG Proceedings.
Entries for the 2004 competition are now invited, and essays (in English or German, max. 6,000 words in length) should be submitted by 5 April 2004 to the CUTG Conferences Secretary:
